You’ll receive up to 10,000 Membership Rewards points in your account, for a maximum of 40,000 Membership Rewards points redeemed.
As a reminder, 10,000 Membership Rewards points can reduce your statement credit by $100. So it’s like having $100 back in your pocket.
This is valid for these types of redemptions only:
- American Express Fixed-Point Travel
- Use Membership Rewards points for purchases
- Use Membership Rewards points to make a purchase with Air Canada
However, it was not offered to everyone. This is a targeted promotion for certain American Express cardholders only. Check your mailbox to see if you’ve received the good news.
Membership Rewards redemption promotion - Example
For example, you have paid for certain purchases with your American Express Cobalt® Card:
- $ 100 worth of groceries
- $ 300 airfare on Air Canada
This means that 40,000 Membership Rewards points are required to fully pay for the $400 purchase.
Then, within 90 days of the end of the promotion, you’ll receive 25% of the points redeemed, up to a maximum of 10,000 points, back into your account.
This will have cost you 30,000 Membership Rewards points net! It’s as if your $100 worth of groceries had been free.

On the American Express website or mobile app, go to the map where the Membership Rewards points are located:
- Click on Use points
- Select the desired transaction
- Move the cursor to the number of points to be used
- Confirm the transaction by clicking on Use points
