Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel is located near Riyadh International Airport (RUH) and is a member of Marriott Bonvoy. It will mainly be suited for passengers with connecting flights, early departures or late arrivals.
Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Booking
When I stayed at the Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel, the rate was 20,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, while the room cost was over CA$ 250. So I chose to use my Marriott Bonvoy points for this one-night stay.

Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Location
Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel is located 2 km from Riyadh International Airport. Having rented a car, we went directly there, which took less than 5 minutes. Complimentary parking is available.

Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Check-in
We arrived in Riyadh around 1:30 am and checked in around 2:30 am. At this hour, the receptionist was not very accommodating. Not very comfortable with English, he just gave me the room key without answering my questions about breakfast, an upgrade or the hotel lounge.

Next to the reception is a Bedouin tent for children to wait with some toys and a television.

We were not upgraded: the hotel was fully booked due to the MDL Beast Soundstorm Electronic Music Festival (we saw many of the festival’s technical staff at breakfast).
Our room was located on the second floor of the hotel.

Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Room
The room is large. And the materials are typical of those you would find in any Marriott hotel worldwide. It’s sober, and functional but a bit old-fashioned.

A small welcome gift was available:

When we woke up (around 6 am with the Prayer coming from the Mosque located next to the parking of the hotel), here is the view of our room:

The bathroom has a large shower. Nothing to complain about here.

Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Breakfast
Breakfast at Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel is served at the hotel’s restaurant on the first floor. You can also have it on the terrace, by the pool.

It’s a very Americanized breakfast. Few oriental dishes are available. What a change from our hotel in Istanbul the day before!
For members with Platinum, Titanium or Ambassador status, breakfast is complimentary. You can also get it with some paid rates through the hotel’s website on Marriott Bonvoy at this address.

Next to the Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel‘s reception, you will find a Starbucks coffee shop. This can be convenient if you don’t have a complimentary breakfast.

Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - Around the hotel
You are close to the airport by staying at the Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel, which is northeast of the city. This could be the starting point for a visit to Edge of the World (avoiding downtown traffic).

You can do it by yourself (provided you have a good 4×4 and are not afraid to drive more than an hour at 15-20 kph). Or you can choose an excursion with a guide!
Here are some suggestions for activities in Riyadh and the surrounding area from our partner Viator:
Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points
The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points for free stays at over 8,000 hotels worldwide is to have the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card (and/or the Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Card).
In addition to the exceptional welcome bonus of each of these two cards, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on all your purchases and 5 points per dollar at any of the Marriott establishments. On top of that, every year, you’ll receive a free hotel night certificate (worth 35,000 points) and 15 Elite Night Credits toward your Marriott Bonvoy status.
Riyadh Airport Marriott Hotel - My general impression
It is an airport hotel: convenient for one night; I do not recommend it if your stay in Riyadh is more extended because of the distance from downtown.
You will be able to get better quality properties in town like Le Meridien Riyadh for a similar number of points.
