Hong Kong having just opened to the public without restrictions and since I took advantage of a very good deal to travel on Emirates first class which can now be booked with Aeroplan points, I decided to stay at the Courtyard Hong Kong.
Courtyard Hong Kong - Booking
The cost in Marriott Bonvoy points when I booked was 30,000 points or $203 in cash. In this case, it was more attractive for me to book in cash given the Marriott Bonvoy points rating by Milesopedia. I always use this tool when booking to make the right choice.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points
The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points for free stays at over 8,000 hotels worldwide is to be a Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Cardholder (and/or Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Cardholder).
In addition to the great welcome bonus on both cards, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on all purchases and 5 points per dollar at Marriott locations. And each year, you’ll earn a certificate for one free hotel night (35,000 point value) as well as 15 Elite nights toward your Marriott Bonvoy status.
Courtyard Hong Kong - Location
The Courtyard Hong Kong is located at 167 Connaught Road West on Hong Kong Island in the Sai Ying Pun area, but its entrance is on Water Street.
It may seem a bit far from the center of the city, but if you like to walk, you can reach the center in 30 minutes. The nearest subway station is 7 minutes away (Sai Ying Pun MTR station).
From the airport, there are several ways to get to the hotel: Taxi, bus or the Airport Express train. My advice is to take the A12 bus which is very easy to find at the airport exit. After a 45-minute drive, the bus will drop you off directly in front of the hotel at the Water Street stop. The bus ticket costs HK$45 (about $7) and there is free wifi, which is very convenient.

Courtyard Hong Kong - Check-in
Although I had completed my online check-in in the Marriott Bonvoy app, before I could get the room keys, I had to go through the front desk to present my passport and make a deposit on my credit card.
Being a Titanium member, I was also given a sheet with the various benefits offered and the hours of access to the Executive Lounge. Platinum and above members enjoy the following benefits:
- Free local calls
- 20% discount on laundry and dry cleaning
- 20% off food and beverages at Momo Café
- Access to the Executive Lounge

Courtyard Hong Kong - Room
I stayed in a room with a view of the city on the 31st floor. The room is quite small, it measures 24 m2 to be precise. Traveling alone, I didn’t feel cramped, however if you are two, you won’t really want to spend much time in the room.

There is also a desk area with an adapter to plug in your devices. The adapter is lent for the stay but there is also the possibility to buy it if you wish to keep it.

Directly in the entrance, there is the coffee/tea area and a refrigerator. However, note that there is no coffee maker but only a kettle. If you’re in the mood for a good cup of coffee, don’t worry, you can find a Starbucks just across the street. In the closet, you will find the necessary items if you need to iron your clothes as well as a safe.
The bathroom is functional and very well laid out, however there is no rain shower. The shower head in my room didn’t fit properly on the bar either, it turned on its own and the water went right on the wall. In short, if you like not having to hold the shower head like I do, you will be disappointed.
Courtyard Hong Kong - Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Momo Café on the second floor. During the week, breakfast is served between 6:30 and 10:30 am and until 11 am on weekends and holidays.

The buffet offers many options: raw vegetables, fruits, cereals, bacon, pastries and fruit juices. A station is available for eggs as well as noodles and dim sum. To be honest, I was not impressed with the buffet and the quality of the food which was bland.
Courtyard Hong Kong - Other Services
Courtyard Hong Kong - Lounge
The lounge is located on the second floor and is accessible to members with Platinum status and above.
It is open every day from 6:30 am to 10 pm. Between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., hors d’oeuvres, desserts and alcoholic beverages are served. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks are available at other times.
A business center with computers is available in the lounge.

Courtyard Hong Kong - Gym
The fitness room is located on the sixth floor and is open at all times.
Bottom Line
The Courtyard Hong Kong is perfect for a short stay or if you are doing remote work. I think this hotel is more for solo travelers or for business trips. Please note that the hotel does not have a pool.
