After a stay at the Element Miami International Airport and a family trip to the Everglades, we decided to spend a night at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach.
Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - Location
The Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach is located in Miami Beach just off Venetian Way (one of the arteries connecting Miami Downtown to Miami Beach).
You are less than 5 minutes walk from the shops on Lincoln Road. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the beach.
Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - Reservation
We booked our stay at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach at the last minute. At the time of our visit, the hotel rates were particularly high. We were lucky enough to get our night for 35,000 points.
This hotel is a good candidate to use the free hotel night certificate coming with the Marriott BonvoyMD American ExpressMD* Card.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points
The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points for free stays at over 8,000 hotels worldwide is to have the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card (and/or the Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Card).
In addition to the exceptional welcome bonus of each of these two cards, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on all your purchases and 5 points per dollar at any of the Marriott establishments. On top of that, every year, you’ll receive a free hotel night certificate (worth 35,000 points) and 15 Elite Night Credits toward your Marriott Bonvoy status.

Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - Reception
When we arrived at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach, several airline captains were also checking in.

The Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach‘s reception area is bright and modern. In a few minutes, we will get the cards of our room.
Next to the reception is The Market (a standard convenience store in the Residence Inn chain) as well as two computers and a printer.

Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - Room
Travelling with two children, the choice of a room with two queen beds is essential. Although we are on the street side, we will not be disturbed by the noise.

This standard room has a nice size and a sofa bed: enough to accommodate up to 6 people (or 2 adults and 4 children).
The bathroom has a large shower with products in reusable bottles (a good point for the ecology).
Very nice: a Traders Joe’s grocery store is across the street (this grocery store accepts American Express and therefore the American Express CobaltMD Card to get 5 points per dollar) . A little further on is a Publix grocery store.

Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - Services
Complimentary breakfast
Always a favourite with families at Residence Inn hotels: breakfast is included, regardless of your Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status. This is definitely the case at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach.

The Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach‘s breakfast room is right next to a canal, and it’s nice and bright in the morning.

Swimming pool
The rooftop pool at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach is excellent and offers beautiful views of Miami. On the other hand, the air conditioning outlets are rather noisy.

Beach
Be aware that as part of the $25 per night resort fee charged by the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach hotel, you get a free shuttle to Miami Beach and two sunbeds at a private partner beach.

Parking
Indoor parking is available at the Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach for $40 per day. However, we chose to park our rental car at a nearby public parking lot.

Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach - General Impression
The Residence Inn Miami Beach South Beach hotel ticks all the boxes in my opinion for a family stay in Miami Beach without blowing the budget. The only regret: the resort fee imposed by the establishment (but paid off if you go to the beach).
