We found ourselves in Berlin for a weekend with friends and chose to stay at The Am Steinplatz Hotel, Autograph Collection, a 5-star hotel owned by the Marriott group.
The Art Nouveau style of the building is surprising; you don’t expect to walk through the doors of a hotel. The furnishings are very luxurious, and the walls are full of history. For example, the Hotel Am Steinplatz has hosted Russian czars, intellectuals, and the biggest movie stars in the past.
I must say that I liked the decoration of this hotel: lights, desks, chairs … everything was comfortable, sober and chic.

Location
The hotel is located 29 minutes by cab from Berlin airport, in the western part of the city in the chic Charlottenburg district.
Not far from there, you will find the Berlin Zoo, a concert hall and opera house, a museum, a theater and a few streets away from the stores. A few restaurants and cafes are also within walking distance.
We visited the city of Berlin by scooter and on foot. We had a private guide for an afternoon to discover the secret streets of the city.

Hotel reception
Once in the hotel, we arrive in a small long hall with open access to the reception room and, on the other side, the Bar am Steinplatz. Touches of red, beige and black set the tone.
Photos of movie stars adorn the walls on both sides and a cozy fireplace that will warm us up in this autumn weather with two inviting armchairs.
Bedroom
Before arriving in our room, we will cross a corridor leading us in front of the elevators and a small library lounge. At the same time, we discover a peaceful and beautiful central garden where it is possible to eat in good weather.
The corridors are well soundproofed. Once in our room, the black, beige and white touches are everywhere with chrome details. The bed seems very comfortable while a nice desk makes you want to move in.
Everything is there for coffee service; safe, ironing board, etc. No forgetting either.
The room is not very large; the bed is central with a bedside table on each side. A beautiful leather armchair sat next to it.
I finally appreciated that the room could overlook the hotel’s interior garden and the window could be opened. We were on the 4th floor.
The bathroom was not very big. We did not have an upgrade, unlike our friends, who had a bathtub.
Our bathroom was composed in its center of a countertop with a basin. A lighted mirror and a magnifying mirror completed the set.
On the right, the shower door and on the left, the toilet door.

My general impression of the hotel
As you can see, I enjoyed staying at the hotel am Steinplatz. The service was friendly and professional. The place was quiet and relaxing and in an equally pleasant neighbourhood. A very suitable setting for a stay as a couple or with friends.
