Partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer
Singapore Airlines is one of the world’s leading airlines. The majority of these flights are in the Asia-Pacific region, to Europe, and there are a few in North America (including Vancouver, San Francisco and New York).
Singapore Airlines is part of the Star Alliance network, as is Air Canada, so it is possible to use Aeroplan points to book flights on Singapore Airlines. The airline does, however, have its own loyalty program: KrisFlyer.
Marriott Bonvoy, the well-known loyalty program of Marriott Bonvoy hotels, has teamed up with Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer to enable its members to match their status.

KrisFlyer Elite Silver members receive :
- The opportunity to participate in the accelerated offer to reach Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status;
Solitaire PPS Club, PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members receive :
- Free Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status(registration required here) ;
- Possibility of participating in the accelerated offer to obtain Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.
KrisFlyer members who already have Gold status with Marriott Bonvoy will automatically receive a 12-month extension. However, this does not work for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members and above.
On the Marriott Bonvoy side, Marriott Bonvoy Gold members receive:
- The opportunity to take part in the accelerated challenge to reach KrisFlyer Elite Silver status;
Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members receive:
- KrisFlyer Elite Silver status automatically(registration required here) for 12 months;
- The possibility of taking part in the fast-track offer to earn KrisFlyer Elite Gold status (by completing 4 flights on Singapore Airlines within 6 months of linking the 2 accounts).

Bottom Line
Please note that for the time being, it seems that the function to open a new KrisFlyer member account is not working.
This partnership results in the lowest status of each program, but it’s already a good start. Especially if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member and have already scheduled flights with Singapore Airlines for the next 6 months! This will give you an even higher status.
For people with KrisFlyer status who want to link their status to earn Marriott status, they would be better off doing so from 2024 onwards.
In fact, under the terms of the Marriott Bonvoy program, they will have Marriott Bonvoy status for the whole of 2024, 2025 and until February 2026. If they do so today on December 13, 2024, they will have the status until December 31, 2023, all of 2024 and until February 2025.
Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite members who obtain KrisFlyer Silver status will have :
- 25% more KrisFlyer miles;
- The free seat selection ;
- The possibility of being placed on a priority waiting list.
If they make 2 round trips, for example (4 flights paid for in cash, not points), they’ll get KrisFlyer Gold status, which is more attractive. In addition to the same advantages of Silver status, they will have :
- Access to KrisFlyer Gold Lounge airport lounges;
- Priority check-in, baggage handling and boarding;
- The right to carry 20kg of excess baggage.
If you’re interested in all this, be sure to synchronize your flights and the timing of your connection of the 2 accounts!
