To the point To encourage U.S. travellers to visit Canada, Air Canada is offering them a status match.

Promotion in collaboration with Air Canada

A partnership between Destination Canada,Air Canada and Status Match is encouraging American travellers to come to Canada.

This promotion is for U.S. residents only, holding status with an eligible U.S. airline. As such, they can apply for a free status match with Air Canada.

Equivalency is offered by Destination Canada, which is linked to the Canadian tourism industry.

Status match Aeroplan

First, the American traveller applies on the Destination Canada website. The answer is given within 3 days at the most. Those who have a positive response will receive an equivalent status valid until 31 December 2021.

Then, to maintain Elite status throughout 2022, they must book and complete a round-trip flightby January 15, 2022. This flight must be “paid for” and not booked with an Aeroplan Reward.

Air Canada status according to the U.S. airline

Six U.S. airlines are participating in this program. United Airlines is not included because it is already an Aeroplan partner.

Here is the scale for each:

Aeroplan Status match

The number of status match given is a maximum of 20,000. The deadline to apply is December 31, 2021. However, it can be accelerated if the goal is achieved earlier.

The fine print is on theStatus Match page.

Conclusion

First of all, Aeroplan has an interesting growth south of the border and is starting to have several American partners.

Last August, Aeroplan reached an agreement for Chase credit cards . In addition, Americans can transfer their reward points to the Aeroplan program.

Nevertheless, as an Aeroplan member living in Canada, we can’t help but dream of having the same partnership! With an American or other airlines program, why not…
