Flight booking applications
You’ve almost chosen your destination? So before thinking about your accommodation, check flight availability and costs. A host of applications and websites are available for this purpose. Some even offer all-inclusive packages.
Are you into points? Even enthusiasts need help. Various tools are available to help you find what you’re looking for. In the past, we used the Award.Flights tool to check flights for awards and loyalty points. The tool is no longer available, but we advise you to use these tools:
- Google Flights is a flight search engine developed by Google. It allows users to search and compare flights from different airlines around the world thanks to its quick search, advanced filters, price calendar and price tracker.
- Flight Connections is a platform that visualizes flight connections worldwide. Thanks to its interactive map, airport search, and other information, it’s a handy tool for planning complex itineraries or discovering available flight routes.
Booking award flights require more knowledge of the points and tools involved. You will have to search for the availability of an award to book the seat with your miles. And despite your good research, things are sometimes uncertain, as some airlines (Air Canada, for example) have decided to restrict access to their air award inventory. But here’s a list of sites to check out:
- Point.me is an online platform specialized in optimizing and booking travel using points and miles from loyalty programs. It helps travellers maximize their reward points when booking flights and holidays. Use our code MILESOPEDIA20 and get 20% off the standard or premium annual plan!
- ExpertFlyer is a platform that allows you to find availability for award tickets and upgrades with your points. Unfortunately, Star Alliance award tickets are no longer available.
- AwardFares is a newer tool dedicated to finding award tickets, ideal for travellers who use airline loyalty programs to book their flights.
Here are the leading flight booking apps to help you compare and find the best flights at the best prices. Remember to book early, be flexible and use your loyalty points to save even more on your ticket price.

The impact of digital on tourism
Travel apps, a booming market
Digital technology has revolutionized the tourism sector, particularly with the rise of travel apps. By 2023, according to Data.ai, the global market for travel apps was estimated at $500 billion and is set to continue growing steadily over the next few years.
This growth is due to a number of factors, including :
- Changing travel habits: travelers are increasingly connected, using their smartphones to plan and book their trips.
- The emergence of new technologies: artificial intelligence, augmented reality and blockchain offer new opportunities to enhance the travel experience.
The challenges of travel apps
The success of travel applications hinges on the ability to meet several challenges, including:
- Competition: the travel app market is highly competitive, with major players such as Booking.com, Expedia and Airbnb.
- Evolving technologies: travel applications need to adapt to changing technologies and user needs.
- Security: travel applications need to protect user data.
The future of travel apps
The future of travel apps looks bright, with innovations that go beyond simply booking flights or hotels. New technologies, such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality and blockchain, offer unprecedented opportunities to make the travel experience more interactive, personalized and secure.
What role does artificial intelligence play in travel applications?
AI dramatically improves the travel experience, making it more personalized, efficient and enjoyable. AI-integrated travel apps offer more intuitive and responsive services, helping travelers make the most of their adventures, while reducing logistical hassles. By adopting these advanced technologies, we can anticipate a future where travel is more connected and intelligent than ever.

Price optimization and forecasting
AI is capable of analyzing millions of pieces of data to predict fluctuations in flight and hotel prices. Applications such as Hopper use these algorithms to advise users on the best time to book, guaranteeing the most advantageous rates.
Review and feedback analysis
Travel apps use AI to analyze thousands of online reviews and identify common trends and sentiments. This provides users with clear, concise summaries of the strengths and weaknesses of a destination or service, without having to wade through pages and pages of reviews.
Image recognition and translation
Image recognition tools integrated into the applications enable travelers to instantly translate signs, menus or any other text in a foreign language simply by taking a photo. In addition, image recognition can help identify monuments and provide contextual information on site.
Route management
Finally, AI helps to automatically organize travel itineraries by aggregating information from various bookings and structuring it in an easy-to-follow format. Apps like TripIt use AI to combine flight details, hotel bookings and activities in one place, offering a clear, well-organized overview.
Bottom Line
All these travel apps are designed to help you find the best deals, compare prices and manage your travel budget efficiently. Integrating these outlis into your travel planning will make your overall experience more enriched.
